Tour De Montagne 2018 – Segments/Routes

Randonneurs et coureurs sur pistes : venez explorer à pied les sentiers de Vélo MSM de Lac-Sainte-Marie ! Le parcours des pistes se veut inclusif et non compétitif. Joignez-vous à un groupe de passionnés des sentiers en forêt et allez-y à votre rythme ; parcourez autant de sentiers que vous le souhaitez en vous arrêtant le long du chemin pour admirer les magnifiques paysages. Tous les sentiers sont balisés, à sens unique et bien entretenus. Le trek commence avec les pistes en bas des montagnes, autour du lac Fournier, de niveau de difficulté vert (facile). Le niveau de difficulté des pistes va ensuite vers le bleu (intermédiaire) et le noir (difficile), se terminant par une descente très technique du côté Vanier de la montagne. Choisissez votre aventure ! Plus vous allez loin, plus les vues sont impressionnantes ! Connectez-vous et suivez votre itinéraire sur Trailforks ou Strava pour pouvoir constater vos progrès en participant d’année en année. Les utilisateurs et utilisatrices assument tous les risques et responsabilités quant à la sécurité. Il faut apporter suffisamment d’eau et de nourriture pour l’excursion, et respecter l’environnement des sentiers en ne laissant aucun déchet. Au plaisir de vous y voir ! An event for hikers and trail runners! Come explore the Vélo MSM trails of Lac-Sainte-Marie on foot. The trail experience is meant to be inclusive and non-competitive. Join a group of fellow trail enthusiasts and choose a pace; cover as much of the outlined trail map as you wish, stopping along the way to enjoy the beautiful vistas. All trails are single track, and well maintained. The trek begins with the lower lying trails around Lac Fournier that are designated green level difficulty and progress to blue and black, ending with a very technical descent off the Vanier side of the mountain. Choose your adventure. The farther you go, the more impressive the views! Log and track your route on Trailforks or Strava so you can participate again in years to come and monitor your progress. Users assume all risk and liability for safety. They are asked to bring sufficient water and food for their journey and to please respect the trail by leaving no litter. Hope to see you there! Tour De Montagne Trail Map

Segment 1 – 3.8K Scenic single track green level hiking/running trail. Perfect for beginners or those looking for a good warm-up loop for a longer hike/run.
Start: Enter trails behind old hotel. Keep left.
1. Onceler’s pass: 452m
2. Baseline: 1092 m
3. Low cal: 688 m
4. Hollywood Blvd 1083 m
Return to start via Hotel connection trail 515 m.

Segment 2 – 3.1K technical single track trails for intermediate hikers and runners. This segment begins where Segment 1 branches to Hotel connection trail. After Hollywood Blvd, segment 2 continues via:
1. Hotel California: 382 m
2. Lower Ridgeback: 794 m
3. Thunderbird : 722 m
4. Slingshot: 1233 m
Total distance for Segments 1+2 done together= 6. 4K 

Segment 3 – 2.2 K technical single track trail with switchbacks and a climb – Cookie’s Climb. Add this segment to 1 and 2 for total hike/run distance of 8.6K
This segment ends at the base of Vanier lift/main Ski Lodge

Segment 4 – 2.6K ascent + 1.3 K descent (direct route) = 3.9 K
For those daring to climb the famous Taylor’s Tower of Power (TTop), the view at the top is the reward!. This blue level trail courses up the mountain at a steady but gentle incline through a series of switchbacks. Pack your lunch so you can eat in the Gazebo at the top!
Descend via Radar road back to Main Chalet for most direct route or go back down via TTop.

Segment 5 – 6.3K
The full Tour is completed by ascending beyond Ttop to the very pinnacle of the mountain. This climb becomes very steep and technical at parts but the panoramic views of the surrounding hills is literally breathtaking. The views continue with a tour of the backside of the mountain along a black level trail (Pilsner) and end with a wild ride down via Lager (double black) – Not for the faint of heart!

2. Pilsner to Family Jewel – 380 m
3. Family Jewel – 239 m (double black diamond)
4. Pilsner (full) – 2279 m
5. Lager – 2131 m
6. Radar – 700 m
Full Tour of the mountain = Segments 1 to 5 = 17.5 K
